Tim Cibor, Director

Tim Cibor is husband to Sara and father to Catherine and Simon. He is the director of bands and assistant director of orchestras at Birmingham Seaholm High School. Under his leadership, the band program continues to have successful marching and concert seasons, performing in Rome, London, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Orlando, Memphis, Nashville, and New York City.

An active conductor, Tim has been the Artistic Director for the Dearborn Youth Symphony since 2008. From 2010-2015 he was on the conducting staff for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, where he led the Civic Concert Orchestra. He has been a guest conductor for the Dearborn Symphony, Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Oakland Youth Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Civic Symphony Orchestra, and Birmingham Concert Band. Tim has also been a conductor for the Detroit Symphony’s “Avanti” Summer Music Festival. Additionally, Tim has served on faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp and has presented at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids and the National Music Education conference in Nashville.

Tim earned undergraduate degrees at Wayne State University and an M.M. at the University of Michigan. In his free time, Tim enjoys golf, working on his house, spending time with his family, and cheering for his beloved Detroit Red Wings. Go Wings!  His ice sculptures have won numerous awards, and he has also been known to use leaf blowers.

Paige Grider, Assistant Director

Paige Grider graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Minor in Jazz Studies. She is a woodwind specialist with a focus in Saxophone. While at OU, she received multiple awards and honors, such as first place in the Oakland University Chamber Music Competition for multiple years and numerous acceptances to perform at world-renowned saxophone conferences around the country. Since college, she has worked with nearly ten different schools in the Metro Detroit area and hopes to continue facilitating growth through teaching music.

Currently, Ms. Grider continues to play her saxophone with a local Rockabilly band, Rio and the Rockabilly Revival, which has toured the country and won a multitude of awards.

Outside of music, Ms. Grider loves cooking at home and doing nerdy things like playing tabletop games, costuming for events like the Renaissance Festival, and all things Halloween!

Adam James, Percussion Instructor

Adam James has been coaching the Seaholm drum line for over ten years. He has also been teaching private lessons and performing since his junior year of high school.

He attended Michigan State University, where he studied classical and hand percussion as well as drum set, and then went on to graduate Cum Laude from Wayne State University, earning a degree in Music Industry Management with an emphasis in musical performance.

Adam is known for his versatility, being a performer of everything from jazz and blues to rock-n-roll and musical theater. He has performed and/or recorded with Sony artist Sonia Lee, Frankie Ford, Stewart Francke, The Crystals, Kim Wilson, Lazy Lester, The Tokens, Doug Demming, Damani Phillips, Bob Mervak, Boogie Dynomite, and many others.

He can also be heard on the soundtrack to the film Hit and Run, released in 2012.
